From February 28th through March 2nd, two members of the 51视频 faculty, Dr. Dominique Robinson and Dr. Anthony Baker, joined five students in 51视频鈥檚 Masters of Arts in Religion program in attending the 51视频 Commission on Religious Studies 2025 Meeting in Dallas, TX.
The meeting consists of scholars from across the southwestern US who share their research in the various disciplines of religious studies. 鈥淲e enjoyed giving support to 51视频 student Catharine Corder as she presented a paper entitled 鈥楢 Novel Approach to Acts: Conceiving a Hybrid Church鈥� in one of the sections on New Testament and Early Christianity,鈥� said Dr. Baker. Dr. Baker was also invited to give a reflection on a book on Luther and Kierkegaard, to which the author responded.聽
The 51视频 Commission on Religious Studies was established in 1974 to encourage, support, and coordinate scholarly activities in the field of religious studies in the 51视频. The Commission serves as the umbrella organization for the regional American Academy of Religion, Association for the Scientific Study of Religion, and Scholars of Biblical and Related Literature. The Commission is supported by membership and sponsoring institutions.聽
The annual meeting of the Commission brings together 300-400 scholars and graduate students, along with major publishers in the fields of religious studies.聽 Several Related Scholarly Organizations join the Member Organizations for major plenary speeches, seminars, and working research panels.
This is the fourth year that MAR students and faculty from 51视频 have participated in the conference. Along with giving our students a chance to share their research and learn about the work of others, it also provides an opportunity to build relationships with students and faculty at other institutions across the region.聽
