St. Thomas is a vibrant, and growing parish located in Huntsville, Alabama seeking a loving, faithful
priest to join our Rector and clergy team to preach, celebrate, teach, and care for our diverse family of
parishioners and neighbors. This position would be perfect for an experienced priest who is particularly
called to pastoral care and leadership formation in a hard-working, fun-loving parish, and it would also be a
stellar opportunity for a newly ordained priest looking for deeper formation in multiple areas of parish life in a
supportive and healthy community of Christians.
Huntsville is the fastest growing city in the state of Alabama, with a diverse, highly educated population
drawing people from all around the world, many of whom work in the space industry. St. Thomas is a well
established parish in our city, well-known for a strong local, national, and world outreach program funded by
our annual Lobsterfest community event, for our summer-time Farmers’ Market, and for our 30+ year work
alongside churches and communities in the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras. We build our ministries on the
strong foundation of our dedicated faith in Jesus Christ, through worship, prayer opportunities, reading and
studying the Bible, formation and education for Christian disciples, and evangelism. We are asking God to call
for us a new Associate Rector, to team with our Rector, clergy, staff, and lay volunteers, and to take a role in the
expansion and growth of our ministry here in Huntsville.
As we move through this search, we are especially mindful that every priest brings a unique set of spiritual gifts
and ministerial interests. We intend to honor those gifts, shaping the role of our new Associate Rector
accordingly and allowing responsibilities among the clergy team to shift and adapt as needed. We hope to find
someone to call forth the strengths and passions that will help our community continue to grow in faith,
connection, and purpose, rather than simply fill a position and dictate duties. Our clergy, staff, and lay leaders
work collaboratively and are open to new ideas and energy.
This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary based upon experience which includes pension,
health insurance, and a continuing education allowance.
If you feel God may be calling you to an exciting, vibrant ministry in a growing, diverse city located in a strong,
supportive diocese, a cover letter, resume, and Vocation Hub Profile should be emailed to the Rev. Canon Katie
Pearson at [email protected]
