Continuing Education Opportunity Offered by Dr. Anthony Baker

Continuing Ed: Theology Reprise

Looking for some theological conversation? Needing to walk through the big ideas of theology again so聽you聽can remember what’s generative and life-giving about them? This continuing education class will read and discuss Professor Baker’s book,聽Leaving Emmaus, a book which began as lectures and conversations with many of you.

The book attempts to show the deep connections of theological language to lived experience. That connectivity will be the central theme of each class. So we won’t just talk about eschatology, we’ll talk about how the big hope in Christ’s return takes in and transforms all our small hopes. Similarly, we won’t simply lay out the vocabulary聽and guard rails of an orthodox Christology, we’ll talk about what it means for our humanity to identify聽Jesus as the true human who was also “perfect in his divinity.”聽

The course consists in seven virtual (Zoom) class sessions, beginning September 28 and ending November 16. There will be no class on October 19. Each class will run for one hour, beginning at 1:30PM Central Time.听

Course fee is $250 (scholarships available)
